Your blog should be a platform where you can test and then scale money-making ideas. Consider your blog as a platform to connect with people and also make money in various different ways.

Now we got that out the way, let’s begin…

How Much Money You Can Make Depends On These 3 Significant Elements:

  1. Picking a profitable blog niche.
  2. how large your email list is.
  3. how much traffic you are getting.

Profitable Blog Niche = More Revenue

The reality is your blog niche plays a significant role in how much money you can generate in the long term with your blog. Therefore, choosing a profitable blog niche or topic to write about will benefit you in the long run.

A few profitable blog niches would be anything finance, insurance, product reviews, and travel. A few least profitable blog niches would be music, general news, cooking, gardening, toys, games, and home improvement.

Having A Large Email List = More Revenue

An email list means more returning blog readers, more website page views, and the easier it gets to target the right people for offers and products. (Later on, in this article, i’ll elaborate more on why an email list is o important).

More Traffic = More Revenue

You can make anywhere $0.01 – $0.20 or more per page view in many blogging niches through display and affiliate ads.

So let’s say you get 1,000 pageviews a month (which is not that hard to get). You can make between $10-$20 or more per month, which can cover your blog expenses for that month. But let’s say you can get to 100,000 pageviews a month, which turns into $1,000 – $20,000 each month.

If you step it up a notch and get 1,000,000 pageviews a month, which turns into $10,000 – $200,000 each month. The point is the more people your blog reaches, the more money you can obviously make.

how do bloggers make money

Potential blog revenue: $5 – $500 per click

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular and profitable ways to make money online. Affiliate marketing is simply recommending products or services and getting paid every time someone purchase through your link.

So how do you make money with affiliate ads? Find a product or service that you believe in and/or use. Sign up for their affiliate program, and begin recommending that product or service to your blog readers. When your readers click and purchase through your affiliate link, you receive a percentage of the sale.

How much money can you make with affiliate ads? Well, it’s all depends on the product you are promoting. You can earn between $5 – $500 (or more!) when someone purchase through your link.

This is one reason people who blog about electronics and cameras and expensive items can crush it through affiliate ads. Every time someone buys a camera or TV through their link, they pocket up to $200 per transaction.

One of the most popular and easiest ways to get started with affiliate marketing affiliates is through Amazon Associates. We can all agree that Amazon is a trendy website, so why not make some money recommending their products. You can get paid whenever you link to a product listing on Amazon if one of your readers buys the product.

There are thousands of other affiliate programs you can join and start earning. Here are a few I participate in:

  • Elegant Themes – If you in the process of creating your blog, It’s very easy to find the perfect WordPress theme for your website on ThemeForest.
  • Cloudways – If you care about website security, not getting hack, and looking to give your website users the best experience, Cloudways promises no more slow loading sites and no more hosting headaches. We use Cloudways as our hosting provider for this website.
  • Clickfunnels – A powerful sales funnel builder that can help you market, sell, and deliver your products or service online.

  • ThinkificWhen you ready to create your online course, Thinking is a great course platform that helps you host and easily sell your online courses. Thinkific is the home to all of our online courses.
  • Sam Cart If you’re marketing your own products online, you need an easy way to collect payments, showcase and sell your products without worrying about technology.

You can also visit any website you’re interested in being an affiliate for and check the very bottom of the page (website footer), usually where you can find information about affiliate marketing opportunities.

Affiliate marketing can be one of the most profitable ways to make money as a newbie blogger or even a pro blogger. Plus, you can take note of how well the products you are promoting are performing. This will give you insight into what products your audience is responding to. Later on in the future, you can use this information to create your own products or services.

2.- Sell Digital Products

how to sell online course

Potential blog revenue: $???

Another profitable income source for bloggers is selling digital products—specifically online courses. It’s never been easier to sell your expertise and make money teaching others. As a new blogger, it can be a bit difficult for you to launch a course cause of the simple fact you don’t have an audience yet, but building a course is a great way to make money on your blog.

Just in case you were wondering, we use third-party websites like Thinkific to host all our courses, and Sam Cart to create our sale pages, ad collects payments (One-time payments and recurring payments)

Here’s a few more digital products you can sell on your blog:

  1. Ebooks
  2. Audio & music
  3. Photography
  4. Graphics & digital art
  5. Documents
  6. Professional services
  7. Tickets
  8. Web-based applications

These are just a few of the things you can sell with your blog. To figure out what product will work best for your blog depends on your audience. Listen to their feedback, and if necessary, ask them what they want from you.

3.- Google Adsense

Potential blog revenue: $0.1 – $0.6 per page view

If you are a brand new blogger, I recommend you start by using Google Adsense. It’s the easiest way to monetize your blog as a newbie.

The whole process is quite simple. You create an AdSense account, insert a small amount of code into your website pages – and you’re good to go. AdSense works by matching ads to your site based on your content and visitors.

The only downside of using AdSense is that you will only get paid after you’ve earned at least $100. You’re also limited to Google and can’t use any other ad network in conjunction with it.

Once your blog starts generating 25,000+ page views per month, I recommend switching over to an ad network like Mediavine or AdThrive, to get pay higher CPM (cost per thousand impressions) and CPC (cost per click).

4.- Social Media Promotion

Potential blog revenue: $250 – $2500 per promotion

If you’re an influencer or a blogger with a large social following, you can make money promoting products or services on your social media platforms. The bigger your following, the more money you can get paid.

Seriously, some influencers I know with massive Instagram followings are charging $3000 to post a product on their Instagram feed for a week. And some are charging $350 to promote a product on their Instagram story, which will only last 24hours.

There are entrepreneurs and brands out there that are willing $250 – $2,500 to do simple social media promotions for them.

Here are a few social tools I recommend to manage or grow your social platform – 7 Must-have Social Media Marketing Tools

5.- Private Coaching

Potential blog revenue: Up to $25,000

All of us are experts in something. Perhaps you know how to grow social media followers faster than anybody else or style a living room like a boss.

There’s an audience and a target market for any expertise or skill. The key is to understand that there are people that need help in every part of life. Even waking up is a skill that can be taught or eating breakfast better.

I currently have three coaching clients, and they are also coaches in different fields. They need my coaching to help them get more clients and grow their business online. All 3 of my clients are charging $5000 for their coaching programs.

Private coaching can be very lucrative since i’ts a high ticket service, meaning you’re charging $2000 for your service compare t selling some for under $500.

6.- Advertising/Publisher Networks

Potential monthly blog revenue: $10,000+

Once your blog starts generating 25,000+ page views per month, I recommend you ditch Google Adsense and switch over to an advertising network like Mediavine or AdThrive, to get pay higher CPM (cost per thousand impressions) and CPC (cost per click).

Those networks are also called publisher networks). Their job is to directly manage the display ads on your site to ensure you are making the most money off your ads as possible.

You can make a lot more money working with an ad network directly than working with Google. Some bloggers are making $10,000+ a month on display ads alone, working directly with an advertising network.

7.- Your Email List

Best Email platform for Small Business owners

Potential blog revenue: $???

I always get asked what the most important asset you own on the internet? Well, besides your website, your email list is the most important asset you own as a blogger. This is your audience, your crew, your tribe. Every other platforms are rented entities, your Facebook account, your Pinterest account, or your Instagram account. Meaning you don’t get the final say so.

Those platforms can get taken away from you in seconds, and there’s nothing you can do about it, but your website ad email lists are 100% within your control.

While you can and will absolutely make money promoting affiliate ads or running display ads on your blog, your biggest money-making opportunity is going to be with your email list.

The million-dollar bloggers out there are able to make between $1-$3 in revenue per email subscriber each month!! If you have a list of 10,000 subscribers, you can make up to $30,000 in revenue off that list per month! That’s insane.

The email marketing platform I recommend is Active Campaign –They offer a free 14-day trial.

Growing your email list is another way to make money blogging. If you’re wondering exactly how to use your email list to make money, here’s a few ideas that you can use :

  • Create your own product and sell it.
  • Promote affiliate products
  • Promote your blog posts that include affiliate links
  • Promote a course you’ve created

These are only a few ways to make money from your email list, and there are plenty of other ways to make money with your email list. But creating an email list is a must-do if you want to make money and have steady traffic to your blog.

If you’re on the fence about whether or not you should create an email list, think of it this way: If a visitor finds your site and you don’t get their email address unless your content is really compelling the likelihood of them returning to your website is little to none.

So how can you get people to sign up for your email list? An optin is one of the best ways to get people on your mailing list. Opt-ins such as a free checklist, cheat sheet, or video that gives value to your readers are a few ways to create opt-ins for your readers.

Once you have them on your email list sending out weekly to biweekly emails keeps your readers looking forward to hearing from you.

Here are the best email marketing platforms, choose the one that makes sense for your to manage your email list.

8.- Consulting

Potential blog revenue: $250 – $10,000 per consultation

Some consultants are charging companies anywhere from $250 for a quick call and up to $10,000 for a one-day visit and workshop with their team.

The more of an expert you become in your field, the more people that will reach out for your help. When the time comes, remember your time is very valuable, do yourself a favor and charge for it.

10.- Sell Memberships

Potential blog revenue: $1000 – $10,000+

Once your blog is established, and you’re an authority in your niche, you can choose to promote memberships to your audience as well to help them achieve a goal.

Your membership site should provide your readers with exclusive high-quality information they will have a hard time finding elsewhere. They should also feel like they getting access to something very exclusive.

If that someone discovers the information, or tutorial on “how to ride a bike” on your blog, and decides to share it on different social media platforms, automatically your blog/brand is in the loophole of becoming a source for quality content.

Now that you’re an authority on the topic, people will start coming to your platform when they in need of information or help. and that will make you the go-to person in your industry, you will be the first person people think of when it’s time to make the decision.

Use Your Blog As A Content Marketing Tool for Your Business

As I mentioned earlier, in addition to selling products for other people on your blog, you can sell your very own products, or service.

Use your blog to create different opportunities to make money online. Write about your own products, or services, and how others can benefit from them.

For example, let’s say you’re a blogger that wants to help others become bloggers. There are many questions that people may have when they first begin blogging.

Not only can you answer their questions, but you can also provide blogging resources, blogging courses, or blogging classes that help your readers.

Creating content that helps your audience builds your credibility makes you the obvious choice when it’s time for your customers to make a decision.
